On May 27, 70 students from the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation program at Huaibei University of Science and Technology left campus to visit the production floor of Anhui Mining Machinery, engaging in on-site study and gaining firsthand insights into the manufacturing processes and workflows of intelligent coal‑mining equipment.
Visit the production workshop, the theory "live" up
Led by the company’s tour guide, teachers and students sequentially visited the core production workshops, including cutting, structural component fabrication, final assembly, and hydraulics. CNC machining equipment and intelligent welding lines were operating efficiently, while flagship products such as the “Qingyu” brand hydraulic supports were being assembled in an orderly manner. Drawing on the products currently under production, the guide provided a detailed overview of key processes like component machining and complete‑machine assembly, and highlighted critical advantages—such as intelligent upgrades for enhanced quality and efficiency, and standardized quality control—while offering an in-depth analysis of the essential technical aspects of coal‑mining machinery manufacturing and the industry’s trend toward smart manufacturing. Abstract technical concepts thus transformed into tangible, real‑world production scenes.
Into the "wisdom" line, professional cognition deepened
During the visit, the students stopped in front of the finished prototypes of large-scale processing equipment and hydraulic supports, enthusiastically asked questions about the precision control of parts, equipment operation specifications, and first-line job skill requirements, and had in-depth exchanges with enterprise technicians. There is frequent interaction on the spot, and some students remember while listening. "The theory of books is very abstract. Only by walking around on the ground today can we really feel what intelligent manufacturing is like." A student sighed. Students have said that the practice of entering the enterprise has broken the limitations of the classroom, not only intuitively understand the development status of the coal machinery industry, but also further identify the focus of professional learning and career growth direction.
This study is a pragmatic measure for both schools and enterprises to deepen the integration of production and education. Prior to this, Anhui Mining Machinery has reached a cooperation intention with Huaibei University of Technology in personnel training, practical training and other aspects. In the next step, Anhui Mining Machinery will rely on its technological advantages and production resources to regularly build a student internship platform, jointly carry out project research and skill training, promote the two-way empowerment of schools and enterprises, and realize the mutual benefit and win-win situation of attracting talents and educating talents in colleges and universities.
